Jeffery Wheeler
Senior Pastor

Pastor Jeffery Wheeler was born in 1954 in the Mt. Pleasant community in Fairfax, Virginia. A community that was settled by freed slaves. There he learned the value of hard work, personal responsibility and the awareness of God and his accountability to Him. This produced an early God consciousness in him which shaped his character and beliefs. After becoming born again in 1972, God gave him a vision and a calling to minister to His people. God also placed in his heart a burden for the spiritual plight of his people which he has borne all these many years.

A year later he met and married Erlinda Rijfkogel, his loving and faithful wife. They were blessed with two daughters, Evestania  and Janell who at an early age placed their faith in Christ for their salvation.

The Lord led them to an independent Baptist church, First Baptist of Accokeek, Maryland. Where, in 1976, he was licensed to preach the gospel. While ministering in the Shirley Duke community in Alexandria VA, now FoxChase, God greatly blessed the work as souls were saved and the work grew into First Baptist of Shirley Duke which is now Tabernacle Baptist.
Today, the pastor still has his burden for the souls of men and his people in particular with a great desire for revival in the church and throughout the land.

The Lord has allowed him to share his insight into the subject of spiritual warfare. God has opened doors for Pastor Wheeler to preach and conduct seminars in the US, Canada and Caribbean Islands.

Pastor Wheeler, by faith has seen God‘s hand fulfilling the vision given to him over forty years ago and with joy and humble adoration he gives all the glory to his God and King!

Richard (Rick) Jones
Assistant Pastor / Elder

Elder Richard E. (Rick) Jones initially joined the Tabernacle Baptist Church (formally named First Baptist Church of Foxchase) in 1978. This was approximately a year and a half after he received the Lord Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior on April 3, 1977. After several years of membership he left and served in other churches but continued to maintain contact. In 1984, he yielded to the call to preach. Several years later he returned to First Baptist to worship and to serve with Pastor Wheeler and the members of Foxchase.

Elder Jones was born and raised in Warrenton, VA where he currently resides with Pat, his wife of forty (40) years, and with their daughter Leslie. They have five children and at the time of this writing, the Lord has blessed him and Pat with two sons-in-law, a daughter-in-law, and seven grandchildren, for whom they are thankful.

Elder Jones' desire is to live a life well pleasing to God through Christ Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit. His goal is to not count his life dear unto himself, that he might finish his course in this life with joy and fulfill the ministry God has given him. (See Acts 20:24.)

Rick values his time with the Lord, his family and his church congregation. He enjoys reading, especially the Bible and books about Christian living and biographies of Christians. Driving and sports are also some of his favorite activities.
